===== Cause ===== This issue is related to a current limitation of the VMware vCenter/ESXi 7 backup module when configured for Non-VDDK mode. Any guest VM's which are powered on will not be backed up. ===== Resolution ===== If the affected guest virtual machine cannot be shutdown during the backup process, then create another backup set to backup virtual machine in VDDK backup mode.  Otherwise, power down all running guest VM before the backup job begins, if you wish to continue the backup in non-VDDK mode. ===== Keywords ===== VMware, vCenter 7, ESXi, VDDK, non-VDDK, power, down, shut, off
